Branch CAMRA Socials

Please visit the Branch calendar for the latest socials and events.
Socials Brewery

To enjoy Real Ale, Live Beer and Real Cider, you really need to leave the house and go and sample it for yourself.
As a branch we aim to have at least four social events a month to get together and enjoy great drinks and pubs, clubs and activities and events both locally and further afield.
Nearly all our socials are welcome to the public so even if you are not a member why not pop along.

Midday Socials

In a world of notifications, why not opt for a Midday Social instead?

We are a friendly, non-agenda group that believes the best connections happen over a pint (or two). We explore the best local pubs and the occasional hidden gems further afield, offering you a chance to unplug and truly relax.

  • No pressure: Stay for one or stay for a few.
  • No stress: No formal meetings, just socialising.
  • Easy to find: Look for our signature CAMRA blackboard or ask the bar staff.

Survey Trips

Not been to an area before or it has been a while. Want to try new pubs locally> Why no come along!

These trips are either a fun filled evening or a compete day where we go to an area and go around every pub, we (sensibly) can. This exploration not only helps update CAMRA records so that the information we have is up to date, but it can also mean we find out about any new changes like a publican deciding to try real ale or might want advice on starting a beer festival and to meet other CAMRA members.
We always bump into unexpected, pleasant suprises.

Weekends and Activities

Fridays and Saturdays it is the weekend time to get out of the house. We like to go on pub walks, go to local beer festivals and do other activities such as visiting other towns, brewery trips and photography walks or possibly even trips abroad.
CAMRA Socials

We are also looking to join in with other local groups whether it is for pottery, walking, quizs, bowling and anything else that can link with the pub, if you have ideas, why not get in touch socials@derby.camra.org.uk or calling James on 07510 161151.

Tasting and Judging

Got a keen nose and palette? Enjoy sampling different beers and visiting brewies? Want to help local breweries get the recognition they deserve?

What CAMRA Members can do at a Social or When Visitng a Pub

Scoring Beer
Throughout the year we encourage our members to go to CAMRA Pub Database, search for the pub or club they are in and score their beer.

Why does it matter?
For the local branch to detirmine which pubs should go into the Good Beer Guide and be eligible to be nominated for Pub of the Year, there needs to be a high enough level of independent scorers to qualify for the selection process. It is a score from 0 to 5 where zero = no real ale available to 5 = perfect condition. Scoring 5 should be rare and usually for a beer you sampled several times.

Updating CAMRA Records

Pub times changed? Recently been refurbished, offering food or the description and photographs are looking a bit out of date?

In the CAMRA Pub Database where you scored your beer, there is an option at the bottom of the page to suggest updates for the records ad upload impages. If you send any images, please confirm that you are the copyright owner. With over 200 pubs in the branch area, we could do with all the help we can get.

Enjoy Yourself

Not interested in scoring or updating records, too much admin do not worry we will be more than happy with your company.

Fancy running you rown socials or being more active in the branch we have plenty of voluntary roles bioth small and large such as producing new graphics, helping with socials or getting adverts for Derby Drinker why not get in touch: derbycamra@derby.camra.org.uk
