Derby CAMRA Winter Ale Festival


The 16th Derby Winter Beer Festival will take place between 19th and 22nd February 2020 at the Roundhouse in Derby.


Volunteers are required for Saturday and take down on Sunday. Please enquire at the membership stand if you are interested.


Opening Times and Prices

Wednesday 19th - 17:00 to 23:00. Price: £3.00.
Thursday 20th - 12:00 to 23:00. Price: £3.00 before 17:30, £5.00 after.
Friday 21st - 12:00 to 23:00. Price: £3.00 before 17:30, £6.00 after.
Saturday 22nd - 12:00 to 23:00. Price: £3.00 before 17:30, £6.00 after.

Note: We operate Challenge 25 so ID will be needed for entry.

Free entry to CAMRA members with a valid membership card for all sessions.
Under 26s half price with photo ID.
Over 60s free Thur-Sat 12:00 to 17:30.
Unfortunately Advanced Tickets are not available for the festival due to entrance restrictions.
We would like to point out that this festival is staffed entirely by volunteers.
Please bear in mind that there may be queues at busy times but we will endeavour to get you into the festival as fast as possible.
Families with Children - Under the restrictions of the Licence, under 18s are allowed in the festival until 7pm (19:00), but must be kept under supervision at all times. Please note, no under 18s allowed entry after 5pm.
Accessability - The site is fully accessible with level access to all public areas of the festival and disabled toilets.
Assistance Dogs - The venue allows visitors admission with dogs if they are a Guide or Assistance registered dog only.



Getting To The Festival

The Roundhouse venue is part of the Derby College complex situated on the Eastern side of Derby Railway Station. Click here to open Google Maps Roundhouse.

Car Parking - There are numerous pay & display car parking areas on Pride Park close to the Round House venue, see the Round House Web site or Parkopedia.

If arriving by train use the Pride Park exit from the over-bridge.

Bus and Foot
Free Bus service will be provided from Derwent Street and Moreledge (stop C8) to outside the Roundhouse. Note the bus does not serve the bus station. Buses run every 30 minutes with the first and last shown below.
Wednesday: First bus 17:00; Last bus 22:00.
Thursday: First bus 12:00; Last bus 22:00.
Friday: First bus 12:00; Last bus 22:00. Between 18:00 and 22:00 buses will go to the front of the railway station.
Saturday: First bus 12:00; Last bus 22:00.

Arriva Route F1 also operates between the bus station the back of the Roundhouse. Alight at the Roundhouse Way stop. There is a short cut opposite the stop which takes you to the front of the Roundhouse.

Getting Home

For those not using a Beer Scooter, please note the following:

Free Buses
Buses will run from the Roundhouse at xx:15 and xx:45 past the hour. Last buses are 22:15, 22:50 and 23:20.

Matlock (including Duffield and Belper) - trains depart at xx:52 with the trains last at 20:51 and 22:19.
Burton on Trent - 22:12 and 22:46 (22:56 on Saturday).
Nottingham - trains depart at xx:12 and xx:40 with the last trains at 21:46, 22:59 and 23:29.

Beer, Cider, Mead, Gin & Rum


This year we will feature bars from Blue Monkey, Navigation, Peak Ales and Totally Brewed.

World Beer

Once again we will have a world beer bar serving exotic delights from across the globe.

Mercian Mead will again be running a mead bar.

Gin and Rum

Once again Blue Monkey will be running a gin and rum bar in the Carriage Room.



There will be hot food available throughout the festival in the main Roundhouse.
Pipers Crisps will be supplying crisips.
Oddfellows Chocolates will have a range of hand made chocolates and truffles.
Morgans will have their cheese stall selling quality chesses, scotch eggs and pies.

Thursday 20th
Unforgiven Good Time Rock cover band.
Verbal Warning Old skool punk. The spirit of 1977!

Friday 21st
The Hot Dogs A dynamic brass band that peform funk and pop covers in a New orleans street style.
Indie Division a classic indie cover band doing great songs from the golden era - The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis, Shed Seven, Buzzcocks and many more.
J - Quad Pop, Rock & Soul.

Saturday 22nd
Rugby the 6 nations rugby will be shown in the venue. 14:15 Italy -v- Scotland and 16:45 Wales -v- France.

The Newcranes Derby based Folk-Rock band frequently compared to the Levellers and other contemporary folk-rock groups..
